Our Green Mission

Our mission is to improve the environmental quality of our community by partnering with area businesses, community leaders and neighbors to work together to create a clean and safe place to live and work for future generations

Reduced single-use plastics and a lower carbon footprint in the hotel are important goals for us as part of our environmental commitment. We don't believe we can address the problem all at once, but we are eager to make incremental improvements, which typically come at a cost to the hotel. Single-use plastic is a huge pollutant in our oceans and rivers, and our reliance on it is jeopardizing the ecosystem in numerous ways. We have the opportunity to lead the way and set an example for others in our area. We are dedicated to working locally to promote our community's social, economic, and environmental well-being.We are committed to collaborating with local businesses, community groups, and neighbours to enhance the environment in which we live and work by undertaking environmental projects that benefit our community socially and economically.

Here are some of the activities, big and small,  from an extensive and growing list of what we have been up to. 

• Removal of plastic straws in bars
• Particpation in the Clean the World program 
• Removal of plastic laundry bags in rooms
• Switch to slippers without plastic packaging
• Supporting other local businesses in their switch to plastic-free
• Take away meal containers switched to compostable
• Large reduction in accounts department paper systems
• Switch to compostable coffee pods in rooms
• Removal of plastic water bottles in room to glass, and then to refill stations.
• Bug Hotel on the Castle Lawns
• Local supplier replacing internationally shipped produce at every opportunity.
